kmos9: Black screen after booting from OS 9

Mac OS 9 and up require a specific firmware update that if not applied to some of the older Macs will cause the video to go black.
It especially affects any machines that have Mac OS X 10.2 installed.

Attach an external monitor to the Mac and upgrade the firmware here:

Some of the older iMacs don't have an external VGA port and you must remove the shell (preferably done at an authorized service center), to attach an external display. It will take a standard VGA display. All DV models have an external port. Once the firmware is updated often times the internal display returns to normal again.
