It is recommended before you upgrade to 10.2.8 and after to repair permissions.

Go to Hard Drive -> Applications -> Utilities -> Disk utility -> First Aid tab -> select hard drive in the disk utility window, and hit Repair Permissions.

There are three versions of 10.2.8 in five updates!

The three versions:

6R65 which has been known to cause some people's screen to go black, battery power to dwindle, and ethernet ports on G4 450 and 500 to turn off. It was released a little over a week ago.

6R73 for non-G5s released in the October 3rd, and 4th

6R73 for G5s. released in the October 3rd, and 4th

Now for the 5 updates:
10.2.8 6R65 which was pulled within a day of being released.

10.2.8 non-G5 update for 10.2.6 and 10.2.7

10.2.8 non-G5 for 10.2.0 through 10.2.7

10.2.8 for G5s

6R65 to 6R73

for those who downloaded the early release before its being pulled. To know which version of 10.2.8 you have, click on About This Mac in the Apple menu, and hold the Option key as you click on the 10.2.8 version number.
